{"id":4,"date":"2015-03-03T19:00:04","date_gmt":"2015-03-03T19:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/soy-foundation.com\/home\/?page_id=4"},"modified":"2015-03-14T15:59:52","modified_gmt":"2015-03-14T15:59:52","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/soy-foundation.com\/home\/?page_id=4","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"In Honour of Jesse Fredericks\" href=\"http:\/\/soy-foundation.com\/home\/?page_id=2\">In Honour of Jesse Fredericks<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Soy Foundations is a registered not-for-profit Foundation in the Province of Manitoba operated by a volunteer independent Board of Directors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Vision <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To provide solutions, support, resources and respect to families and friends affected by drug use.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To work towards a solution for the reduction in prescriptions drug abuse and fatalities; a strong voice and support network for families and friends affected by prescriptions drug use.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Purposes of the Foundation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide solutions for social change and the reduction of prescription drug addiction and overdoses<\/li>\n<li>To provide programing and financial assistance for youths and families struggling with drug addiction, facilities that provide safe environments for youth with addictions, grants, scholarships, schools and community programs, non-profit organizations and foundations<\/li>\n<li>To raise community awareness of the need and concerns of drug users and their families, and work towards overcoming stereotypes and marginalization.<\/li>\n<li>To promote effective educational programs designed to prevent prescription drug abuse and the move towards social change.<\/li>\n<li>To promote and work towards the establishment of a comprehensive care for drug users which meets their needs for harm reduction, detoxification, treatment, and recovery, in order that they may achieve and maintain healthy, productive lives.<\/li>\n<li>Providing resource information about prescription drugs, treatment and help available to parents and families who are affected by drug use<\/li>\n<li>Working with School Board trustees and professionals on education and prevention<\/li>\n<li>Raising awareness before various levels of government of the need to change regulations, laws and legislation pertaining to prescription drugs<\/li>\n<li>Working to raise awareness in the general public that drug addiction is a disease and not a choice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Our Financial Model<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Donations, Memberships, Charity Events, Merchandizing and Government Grants keep us going.
